Read The Meet, an article in Adoption Today magazine about our daughter Sarah meeting her birth mother when she turned eighteen. Includes reunion and family photos.
After coming to Canada, I did post-graduate studies in Public Health at the University of Toronto; I worked in communications at Toronto Public Health and the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship. I was a consultant on projects, including communications, for the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI).
My career as a freelance writer has been eclectic. Early on, I won a National Magazine Award for an article published in Canadian Business magazine. Recently, I helped a holocaust survivor write her memoir about living in a concentration camp in Ukraine, and wrote several articles for the National Post.
I have been a Story Producer for television shows on City TV, Bravo! and the W Network, as well as on documetary films at White Pine Pictures.
I co-authored the book The Essential Guide to Toronto Islands; was Story Producer for the home-decorating reality show Arresting Design on the W Network, a current events talk show on CityTV. and on documentary films produced by White Pine Pictures. I also wrote recipes (bouillabaisse anyone?) and travel pieces for Canada's national newspaper, the Globe and Mail.
I am a juror for the Lindalee Tracey Award for best emerging Canadian film maker, presented annually at the Hot Docs International Film Festival in Toronto.
The Globe and Mail, Ars Medica and Canadian Living magazine have published excerpts from my upcoming book, Not Exactly As Planned.
